The Art of Noshi-Do, Lesson Three (a): How to Defend Your Brain

This lesson is included in the noshi-do even though its scope extends beyond the art of healthy diet alone. Noshi-do and many other noble arts can work in concert to defend the whole being from evil.
Sometimes it appears to me that we have entire industries devoted to poisoning us and inflicting on us a slow and premature death. Not only are the manufacturers of many foods at it but the psycho-pharmacy is doing its best to drum up business for the Grim Reaper too.

Take anti-depressants…on second thoughts, DON’T take antidepressants. Do not let your psychiatrist or doctor talk you into taking them on the grounds that nothing can be done about the fact that you feel a bit depressed except drugging you.

An awful lot can be done that does not involve setting you on the path to zombyism. If your doctor reaches straight for the prescription pad – and these are far too common – without trying anything else first, find another doctor because there are better doctors out there, believe me

The dangers of anti-depressants I have discussed in other articles and they are so well known now by the public at large it is a surprise when someone turns up who is not aware of them. I can only imagine such people have been living on another (psychiatry-free) planet. But for most of you, I do not need to belabour the point here.

I have also discussed elsewhere - and so have a lot of other people more eminent than myself - that so-called mental illnesses such as depression are almost always the mis-labeled SYMPTOMS of underlying, undetected and/or untreated medical conditions.

These can range from glandular disorders, viral infections and unhealed broken bones to toxins in the blood and fatty tissues, drug use and sheer bad diet.

Ever gotten tetchy when you were hungry? Or maudlin or acted a little crazy when you had imbibed a little too much alcohol? Did being laid up with some illness ever make you feel down? Ever see a kid become "hyper" after eating sugar?

Well, as you can see, mood and state of mind CAN be affected by your physical condition, diet and so forth. You only have to imagine the physical or dietary condition being chronic and the consequent emotional fallout and you can see how it can look as if the person has "something wrong with his brain."

If no attempt is made to locate and alleviate the physical condition, it is easy to see how people can be sold a bill of goods and persuaded to take a drug to suppress the symptoms.

It is a bit like taking a painkiller for a broken leg and not bothering to fix the leg. Soon you wind up with gangrene as well as an addiction to painkillers. It is very unwise to address symptoms and neglect causes.

On the matter of depression, in recent decades prescriptions for anti-depressants and the number of people taking anti-depressants has exploded, with around 230 MILLION prescriptions for antidepressants being filled every year, as the program of drugging the citizenry at every (profitable) opportunity continues apace – with, it would appear, the avid help of a large cadre of the nation’s doctors.

Doesn’t the Hippocratic Oath say, "First, do no harm…".?

Be that as it may, we have a pandemic of drug use that in terms of the harm done to the health of the population makes the Swine Flu look like a mild case of the sniffles in comparison.

The odd thing is, despite all of these anti-depressants being taken so readily and regularly by so many people, more than one in 20 Americans are depressed, according to recent statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). A staggering 80 percent of these say they have some level of functional impairment, and 27 percent say it is extremely difficult to do everyday tasks like work, getting things done at home or getting along with others because of their condition. If you believe psychiatry and the drugs companies, we have an epidemic of depression sweeping through our ranks.

What’s wrong with this picture? On the one hand we have more and more and more people persuaded to take antidepressants. On the other we have more and more and more people getting depressed.

If the antidepressants were any good, we should be seeing a REDUCTION in the incidence of depression, not a rise. At the very best then the antidepressants are not resolving depression. They may do other things – such as making the citizen more docile and thus less of a threat to the planet’s ruling oligarchy or something – but reducing depression is clearly not among them. But there is also the possibility that the drugging of the citizenry is CAUSING the increased incidence of depression. Personally I find the very idea of millions of people addicted to these drugs quite depressing.

Mind you, you could level that same criticism at the whole of psychiatry. It has been around for some one hundred and fifty years, lobotomizing, electro-shocking and drugging the masses, "advising" governments and setting up shop in schools, prisons, the military and so forth with impunity and the world has gotten catastrophically worse. There is no area of life where psychiatry has intervened that has improved and ALL of them are in decline.

Be that as it may, the negative results from mass drugging with antidepressants are perhaps explained by the fact that many studies clearly show that antidepressants don’t work any better than placebos. But the matter is far worse than them just not working and the possibility that we have been conned out of billions of dollars by those who peddle them.

They are not harmless candies. They are addictive and withdrawal from them can be very unpleasant and downright dangerous and they can and do actually cause people to commit suicide and have a number of other side effects, such as depression and violent behaviour. They can also have a serious detrimental impact on your physical health, bringing an increased risk of diabetes and impairment of the immune system and many other problems.

If you or someone you care about has a problem of mood, emotion or behaviour, PLEASE do not let them or yourself be talking into the "quick fix" of some drug that will sedate and impair you.
